BE AWARE!! FAKE DEBT COLLECTION PHONE CALLS!!
If you receive a phone call or voicemail that says something to the effect of…
“Hello. This message is very time sensitive and intended for (Your Name) with the last four of the social (Your last four). My name is (Pick a name) contacting you from the process server’s office of Legal Support Services (Or some other official sounding name). My company has been certified and contracted to issue and finalize a complaint to a (Your Company Name or Personal Name).
We have been trying to get in contact with you over the last few weeks. Unfortunately, your information has been forwarded back to our office due to multiple failed compliances. Your information is going to be routed out to your corresponding county and directed out to the location of your business that is registered as soon as possible and will be requiring your hand signature before the end of the business week.
So, if you will not be available to sign off on your information or if you do need to reschedule or have any questions or concerns have yourself or your legal representative contact our finalization department at 844-576-6683 (Or similar 800 number). Do be sure to reference our in-house case number of 445674 (Or some similar number). Thank you and have a good day”
WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT CALL THIS NUMBER!! THIS IS A FAKE DEBT COLLECTORS SCAM!!
There may be variations of this theme, but they are all designed to scare you into giving up your hard-earned money. If you research the given number it will be traced back to an official sounding law firm with a legal-looking website such as Mueller and Associates. http://muellergrouplaw.com/ The website may even have a BBB logo (in good standing). However, if you look through the site, there is no street address or place of business, just the phone number given. The “Contact Us” page is designed to verify your name and secure your email address.
If you do call the number, you will be threatened with arrest or lawsuit if you don’t pay this (Fake or Zombie debt) TODAY. Sometimes it may be an actual old debt such as a payday loan or some other uncollected debt from 9 or so years ago. They may even offer you a lesser amount to satisfy this claim today.
They may also contact or harass you relatives (Parent, Son, Daughter, Etc.) and/or your neighbors telling them that you’re a deadbeat and that you are going to be arrested unless you pay this debt so you might expect calls from your people should you get any of these fake collection calls.
